JR Berry is a photographer, installation artist and avid outdoorsman. He graduated with a BFA from Cleveland Institute of Art and took his art to the rugged mountains of Appalachia outside Asheville, North Carolina. JR began his professional career managing a community photography studio while spinning pizza pies to fund his passion projects - both in mountain expeditions and creating fine art. Much of his work captures the layers of human identity and Self, re-wilded through natural landscape and adventure. In 2014 JR moved to Brooklyn, NY to work at a post-production studio that delivered exhibition prints for many of the photography greats including Annie Leibowitz, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, and Roni Horn. After several years in the churn of the industry, the mountains were calling and he had to go. He bought a van and began his journey as a traveling artist, photographer and nature guide.

JR is now based in Northern California where makes art, guides outdoor education trips, captures lifestyle photography for brands, offers assisting and production support and teachings local art workshops.
